E-commerce transactions grow

ELECTRONIC commerce (e-commerce) transactions by Filipino cardholders increased last year as they took advantage of convenient online transactions, global payments technology firm Visa, Inc. (Visa) yesterday said.

Visa said this trend is seen to grow this year as more cardholders conduct their transactions online and the number of online discount merchants increases.

“There is a shift to the e-commerce space…As more Filipinos find it more convenient to perform online transactions, they demand for more opportunities to use their cards in the online space,” said Iain Jamieson, country manager for the Philippines and Guam, told reporters in a press briefing yesterday.
