Over two years since it bagged the contract to build a new passenger terminal building (NPTB) for the Clark International Airport, the Megawide GMR Consortium announced that it has completed the project.

Megawide CEO Edgar Saavedra posted photos of the completed NPTB project on his personal Facebook page on Saturday, April 4.

“Finally, it’s done,” he said. “Another first-world airport facility in Clark, delivered by Megawide and GMR.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) awarded the contract to Megawide in December 2017. The company said it had bested four Chinese state-owned firms with a P9.36 billion bid for an estimated P12.55 billion project.

In its winning bid, Megawide said the proposed NPTB will measure 101,977 square meters and will increase the Clark airport’s capacity by eight million passengers per annum. Clark airport current handles around four million passengers per annum.

The NPTB is expected to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Megawide added.
